Faculty members of the Hertie School are some of the most renowned names in political science

According to a recent survey by the Deutschen Vereinigung für Politische Wissenschaft (DVPW) professors of the Hertie School have a very good reputation. In this survey, only experts were asked to decide on the most important names in political science in Germany.

The survey not only focused on the most important names in political science as a whole, but also looked at name recognition and reputation of political scientists in specific research fields.

Michael Zürn, Dean and Professor of international relations at the Hertie School, was named the most important political scientist in the field of international relations.

In the field of political theory Professor Claus Offe was ranked in the top three. He was also distinguished in the field of political sociology, as its fifth most important representative in Germany.

Professor Fritz Scharpf, a member of the Hertie School board of Trustees, was named the most important political scientist in the overall ranking. Michael Zürn was ranked fifth and Claus Offe, Professor of Theories of the State at the Hertie School was ranked eighth.

No other institution in Germany has two active professors in the top ten. The study was conducted by Prof. Jürgen Falter and Michele Knodt on behalf of the DVPW.
