Berlin, 8 June 2018 – With a speech by former Swedish Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, the Hertie School today (June 8) presents its twelfth graduating class. The ceremony, conferring degrees on nearly 200 master’s graduates and doctoral candidates, will take place at the Konzerthaus Berlin with around 1,000 guests.
The "Class of 2018" comprises 140 Master of Public Policy (MPP) graduates, 52 Master of International Affairs (MIA) graduates and seven doctoral candidates. The graduates come from 42 countries, including for the first time Cambodia, Iraq and Tunisia. The master’s students completed a two-year English-language study programme at the Hertie School. Seventy of them spent part of their studies at one of the Hertie School's international partner universities, where some also earned a second degree. Another 70 gained practical experience in a "Professional Year" between their first and second years, e.g. in a ministry, an international organisation or a large company.
The graduation ceremony, with speeches by Hertie School President Helmut K. Anheier and keynote speaker Carl Bildt, will be broadcast via livestream starting at 3 pm.
