Hertie School leadership thanks Bruno Le Maire as he leaves Board of Trustees to take up French Finance Minister post

“I am proud to have helped guide the Hertie School,” says Le Maire.

Hertie School Chairman of the Board of Trustees Frank Mattern and President Helmut K. Anheier express their gratitude to Bruno Le Maire for his four years of service as a member of the Board of Trustees. Le Maire will step down to head up France’s Ministry for the Economy and Finance in President Emmanuel Macron’s new government.

“I am proud to have helped guide the Hertie School for a time along its prosperous path,’ Le Maire said in a letter to the Hertie School Board of Trustees.

Le Maire joined the Hertie School Board of Trustees in September 2013. A member of the Republicains party, he has served in the French Parliament since 2007. He was Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fishing, Rural Affairs and Territory settlement from 2009 until 2012 under President Nicolas Sarkozy. Prior to that, he was Secretary of State in charge of European Affairs.

Le Maire is a graduate of École Nationale d’Administration, École Normale Supérieure.

Last year, he spoke at the Hertie School on Europe, France and their shared future.
