Marina Henke comments in media on Leopard tanks decision

In interviews on Bloomberg and rbb InfoRadio, Henke explains the implications of Scholz’s decision (and hesitance) for Ukraine and Germany.

After a prolonged period of indecision, Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced yesterday that Germany would provide Leopard tanks to Ukraine. The government's hesitation may have been harmful to Germany’s reputation and "raised doubts about the extent to which Scholz is really serious about his promised ‘Zeitenwende’”, Marina Henke, Professor of International Relations and Director of the Hertie School’s Centre for International Security, pointed out in an article today on Bloomberg.

In an interview yesterday on rbb Inforadio, Prof. Dr. Henke explained the impact this delay has had on the conflict and why the tanks are important to Ukraine as the Russian war continues into the spring.
