Cooperation affirms the school’s solidarity with Ukraine and furthers international exchange.

The Hertie School has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) in Ukraine to explore cooperation on joint research and education projects over the next five years. The agreement is a signal of solidarity with Ukraine against the brutal Russian invasion and aims to further strengthen international cooperation in Europe.

“We are honoured to establish this cooperation with the Kyiv School of Economics,” says Cornelia Woll, President of the Hertie School. “These are devastating times for the people and academic institutions of Ukraine, and we want to show our strong support for their continued pursuit of scientific research and teaching, beyond borders. We are confident that this will be the start of a long and fruitful collaboration with our counterparts at KSE.”

Specifically, the partners will encourage direct contacts and cooperation between their faculty members, graduate students, departments, institutes and academic staff. They will explore the possibility of collaborative research projects, short-term visits for conducting research, teaching or seminars, and joint supervision of graduate research students.

The Kyiv School of Economics was founded in 1996 by the Economics Education and Research Consortium (EERC) and the Eurasia Foundation. It offers degree programmes in law, economics, business, finance and digital transformation. Its mission is “to build the intellectual foundation for a strong and innovative economy of Ukraine as well as develop other spheres”.
