Study: "State, Public Administration and the Degree of Digitalisation"

A survey by Prof. Hammerschmid shows that the digitalisation of public administration does not take off in Germany.

The biggest challenges faced by the German public administration are the realisation of the e-governance law and subsequent digitalisation processes, a new staffing policy and budgetary pressure. These are the core findings of a survey of 1,200 public administration offices in Germany. The representative study "Zukunftspanel Staat & Verwaltung” was conducted by Gerhard Hammerschmid, Professor of Public and Financial Management at the Hertie School.
