Klaus Hurrelmann says policymaking on education and careers must involve young people: dpa.
In an interview with the German news agency dpa, Professor of Public Health and Education Klaus Hurrelmann says that while most young people are resilient enough to withstand the allure of far-right politics, those who cannot gain a secure footing in society through work and education may turn to radicalism in their frustration. "Unfortunately, this part of the young generation is not in a position to articulate itself strongly politically. Young men in particular, who are especially affected, then resort to electing radical parties, including right-wing extremists," Hurrelmann says. He calls on policymakers to include young people in discussions about the future of education and careers.
