A negative decision on climate could radicalise the Fridays for Future movement

Klaus Hurrelmann talks to ZDF Morgenmagazin about the future of the youth movement phenomenon.

In the lead-up to the cabinet meeting deciding Germany's climate goal action, Klaus Hurrelmann, Professor of Public Health and Education, talked to ZDF Morgenmagazin about the Fridays for Future movement.

"If the decision towards climate is negative, a radicalisation of the Fridays for Future movement is likely," says Hurrelmann. "It has never happened before, that a school student triggers a worldwide movement beyond the pop culture of music".

How this unique youth phenomenon continues will be decided after the cabinet's climate action decisions on 20 September, which also falls on global climate strike day.
