
The Hertie graduate talks about how his work with SOS Humanity and his motivation for pursuing a career in humanitarian work.
"Being able to shape the discourse is extremely important in enacting concrete change," says Sasha Ockenden, who graduated from the Master of International Affairs programme in 2018. Sasha works for SOS Humanity, an NGO that organises search and rescue missions for refugees in the Mediterranean.
Today, on World Refugee Day, he shares with us what it’s like to work as a communications officer in the humanitarian field, how his courses at the Hertie School helped prepare him for his later career, and his motivation for pursuing career in humanitarian work.
