Flying high: Johanna Mair on Thinkers 50 radar list

Hertie School Professor among 30 important business thinkers.

Thinkers50, a ranking of global business thinkers, announced the Thinkers50 Radar list of the 30 management thinkers “most likely to shape the future of how organizations are managed and led”. Among these is ProfileJohanna Mair, Professor of Organization, Strategy and Leadership at the Hertie School.

According to Thinkers50 co-founder Des Dearlove the list is intended to call the attention of managers to creative minds who have been influencing management thinking. The appointed are also likely nominees of the biennial Thinkers50 ranking in 2017, considered to be the “Oscar of Management Thinking”, for which Johanna Mair was shortlisted in 2015.

Johanna Mair researches how novel organisational and institutional arrangements generate economic and social development and the role of innovation in this process. She is also the Hewlett Foundation Visiting Scholar at the Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society and the Academic Editor of the Stanford Social Innovation Review. Next to that she works with the World Economic Forum and advises foundations and social venture funds. She is currently heading up i-share, a research project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research that investigates various questions related to the sharing economy. Furthermore, she leads the Hertie School team at the multi-disciplinary research programme SEFORIS, funded by the European Commission, which studies the potential of social enterprise in the EU and beyond.
