Helmut Anheier co-edits new book on nonprofit management

“The Routledge Companion to Nonprofit Management” highlights current nonprofit management research, knowledge and development.

The nonprofit sector has undergone major changes over the past three decades, turning into a major economic force around the world. This transformation has led to the necessity of enhancing organisational capacities and professionalising the management of nonprofit institutions. These issues are tackled by the new book “The Routledge Companion to Nonprofit Management”, co-edited by Hertie School Professor of Sociology Helmut Anheier and George Mason University Professor of Nonprofit Studies Stefan Toepler.

Three years in the making, the book includes newly commissioned contributions from internationally renowned scholars. It provides context to nonprofit management in different countries and regions, discusses leadership and strategic management, both internally and externally, and takes a closer look at funding as well as the emerging social enterprise space.

“The Routledge Companion to Nonprofit Management” also highlights questions and topics that will shape the nonprofit sector in the future. Mainly aimed at graduate students, researchers and practitioners in the field, the book serves as a reference point and essential resource for those who are interested in a deeper understanding of the nonprofit sector and how it operates.
