Leibniz Association approves second phase of funding for Berlin Centre for Consumer Policies

The Leibniz Association has approved a second phase of funding for Berlin Centre for Consumer Policies (BCCP), a joint project of seven Berlin research institutions, including the Hertie School, where Professor of Economics Christian Traxler is the project lead. Professors Daniela Stockmann and Lion Hirth are also involved.

The BCCP was first funded in 2015 for a four-year period. The renewed grant is for 1.13 million euros over another four years, amounting to 283,300 euros per year across all partners. BCCP cooperation partners are  the Hertie School, DIW Berlin, WZB Berlin Social Science Center, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, Freie Universität, and the European School of Management and Technology Berlin. 

The BCCP aims to create an international platform for interdisciplinary research on consumer policies, in order to inform policymakers on issues relevant to the public debate.

The grant is part of the Leibniz Association's Germany-wide ScienceCampus programme, which selected ten projects, including the BCCP, for funding or renewal this year, amounting to grants worth a total of 11.3 million euros. Each grant is for up to 300,000 euros per year over four years, when renewal is possible.
