Michaela Kreyenfeld appointed to expert panel for German government's "Family Report"

Family affairs ministry names experts to compile 2020 report on parenting, children's well-being.

The German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) has appointed Hertie School Professor of Sociology Michaela Kreyenfeld to a seven-member, interdisciplinary panel of experts who will author the ministry's ninth "Family Report".

The report, expected in mid-2020, will focus on challenges facing parents in society, family life and the workforce, and the effects on the overall well-being of children. The German parliament requires the government to produce a report on the situation of families at least every second legislature period, with the aim of guiding family policy-making. The previous report was published in 2012.

Kreyenfeld, who is an expert on family sociology and demography, is also a member of the ministry's  Scientific Advisory Board for Family Issues.
