Michaela Kreyenfeld shares expertise at UN meeting on COVID-19 and fertility

Professor of Sociology presents data on fertility rates in Germany.

On 10 May, Professor of Sociology Michaela Kreyenfeld spoke at a two-day expert meeting on the impact of COVID-19 on global fertility rates, organised by the Population Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

Kreyenfeld, whose research focuses on family, parenthood and social policy, gave a presentation focusing on data from Germany.

"We haven't seen a rollback for Germany in terms of gender role behaviour," she said, which could prevent a decrease in birth rates.
