Henrik Enderlein to succeed Helmut Anheier as President in 2018, Axel Baisch to become new Managing Director on 1 April.
Berlin, 23 March 2017 – The Board of Trustees of the Hertie School this week set the course for a change of the university’s leadership. After nine years at the helm, Helmut K. Anheier will hand over the office of President to Henrik Enderlein in September 2018. This step reflects the continued long-term willingness of the Hertie Foundation to support the university in its expansion. Enderlein is Vice President of the Hertie School and Director of the Jacques Delors Institute – Berlin. As Professor of Political Economy, he has been a member of the school's faculty since 2005. The sociologist Anheier, who also holds a Chair at the University of Heidelberg, joined the young private university as President in 2009 after 20 years of teaching and research at universities in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Axel Baisch will become Managing Director of the Hertie School on 1 April 2017. Baisch, who holds a doctorate in law, has been Chancellor of the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management since 2011. He has held leading positions in arts and cultural management, most recently as the Executive Director of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Baisch will share the position at the Hertie School with current Managing Director Marina Frost for two months. After 1 June, Frost, who is former Chancellor of the University of Heidelberg and the Humboldt-Universität in Berlin will continue to assist the school in an advisory role.

Axel Baisch, a highly competent manager, will stand by him in shaping the successful future of the Hertie School.”
