Daniela Stockmann's research on China and social media use is cited in an article in The New York Times on how the Chinese government is cracking down on Twitter users. According to Stockmann, only 0.4 percent of China's internet users use Twitter – around 3.2 million people. The not-yet-published data is part of Stockmann's research project Authoritarianism 2.0: The Internet, Political Discussion, and Auhoritarian Rule in China.
