Study: Self-employed in Germany expect more flexibility and transparency for retirement savings

A survey conducted by the opinion research institute Civey under the scientific supervision of Klaus Hurrelmann, Professor of Public Health and Education, shows that freelancers are increasingly vigilant about their retirement savings and investing more in them. At the same time, however, many self-employed people are poorly informed, according to Hurrelmann: "This lack of information contributes to inadequate savings for most self-employed people. Fifty-five percent of self-employed persons assume that they will have to limit themselves in old age." More flexibility and transparency are therefore key requirements for retirement savings, considering that many freelancers often do not plan to be permanently self-employed.
