"Subsidies to Putin's treasury". Lion Hirth in conversation with Tagesspiegel

In an interview with Tagesspiegel Background, Lion Hirth explains what the future can look like for European energy markets amid the energy price crisis and war.

Lion Hirth, Assistant Professor of Governance of Digitalisation and Energy Policy at the Hertie School,  discusses the problem of scarcity in the event of Russia's gas supply failure and reiterates that state subsidized energy prices or wholesale price interventions are not the solution to shortages. He warns that state intervention may cause more problems for the European energy market and consumers.
