The Professor of International and Cyber Security has been recognised for her contributions to teaching and research on internet censorship, cyber policy, and state action.
Anita Gohdes, faculty member and Professor of International and Cyber Security at the Hertie School, has been named "100 Köpfe der Hauptstadt-Wissenschaft 2024" (100 most important minds in science in the capital) by the newspaper Tagesspiegel for her outstanding contributions to teaching and research on internet censorship, cyber policy, and state action.
In recognition of Gohdes' contributions, Tagesspiegel writes: “In her lectures, Anita Gohdes talks about how governments censor the internet in order to pursue their interests. The political scientist conducts research on cyber policy and primarily analyses state action. She advises the Federal Foreign Office, the World Bank and the United Nations. She also works for the Human Rights Data Analysis Group, which publishes independent data analyses on the topic of human rights.”.
The “100 Köpfe der Hauptstadt-Wissenschaft 2024” feature is part of Tagesspiegel’s ongoing series celebrating influential figures in Berlin’s scientific community. Each year, Tagesspiegel’s editorial team selects 100 individuals who are driving innovation and shaping the future of science in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. These personalities, working across disciplines such as biochemistry, artificial intelligence, and mobility, are based at universities and research institutions across the region. Their work not only enriches their respective fields, but also attracts funding in the millions, advances public discourse, and lays the foundation for future breakthroughs.
