You're invited: inaugural event of the Centre for Sustainability // 30 September 2021, 5.30 PM

Our launch event focuses on one of key topics of our work: achieving global greenhouse gas emissions neutrality in the context of other environmental, social and economic sustainability goals. Please join us in this journey!

The Hertie School Centre for Sustainability was launched in April 2021. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the inauguration had to be postponed. As restrictions in Berlin adjust, we’d like to set the scene for our future activities and connect the international, European and German debates on climate and energy policy.

With the EU Commission presenting its Fit-for-55 proposal for the implementation of Green Deal in summer, and Germany electing a new Bundestag just now, we are excited to launch an opening debate on the challenges and opportunities of 1.5°C stabilisation for Europe and Germany.

Speakers:

  • Dr. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency;
  • Dr. Franziska Brantner MdB;
  • Dr. Norbert Röttgen MdB & Member of the Board of Trustees, Hertie School;
  • Jesse Scott, Director of the International Programme at Agora Energiewende.

Prof. Dr. Christian Flachsland, Director of the Centre for Sustainability, will moderate the discussion.

This event will be hosted in a hybrid format, with a limited number of guests able to join in-person at our campus at Friedrichstrasse 180. The event will also be live-streamed. Please let us know how you wish to participate.
