Executive MPA graduates present thesis projects in annual poster exhibition and ceremony.
Every year, the Hertie School celebrates its Executive Master of Public Administration graduates with a master’s thesis poster exhibition – the culmination of the graduating class's academic achievements. This year's event took place both online in a virtual exhibition that will run until 1 October, and in person in Berlin at the Executive MPA graduation ceremony on 9 September, where the three winners were announced and their posters displayed.
The 2022 Executive MPA master's thesis poster winners
A jury of Hertie School professors selected the three best posters for distinction:
- Clemens Viernickel: Move Slowly, and Don't Break Things: An Analysis & International Comparison of the Policy Framework for the Formation & Success of Technology Companies in Germany
- Elena Liotta: Lab language in local government: Using text analysis to evaluate the cultural impact of innovation units on their parent organisations
- Caroline Assad: Exploring ethnic and cultural diversity in cultural policy in Berlin, London and New York City
Caroline Assad was also the recipient of the Students and Alumni Choice Award.
The master’s thesis poster is required of all Executive MPA students in addition to a written master’s thesis, both of which are submitted at the end of their programme. The master's thesis is an independent research project in which students apply the skills, theoretical and methodological knowledge acquired during their studies to a practical policy problem.
In their theses, the 2022 Executive MPA graduates explored topics and policy issues such as sustainability, human resource management, traceability tools and blockchain management.
