A new generation of German activists

Klaus Hurrelmann talks to Welt about German school strikes and youth environmental activism.

For weeks, young Germans have been skipping school on Fridays to participate in demonstrations in Berlin and drum up support for environmental policies. The young people, who are following an appeal by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg to strike, are representative of a growing political awareness among the youth, says Professor of Public Health and Education Klaus Hurrelmann.
