ASEAN high-level seminar at the Hertie School

From 22 to 25 March 2009, the Hertie School hosted a high-level executive seminar for the ASEAN Secretariat, together with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH, AusAID, and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (Singapore).

Professor Jobst Fiedler directed the seminar with 30 participants, speakers, and guests on the topic of Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation: Towards a cross-sectoral programme approach in ASEAN.

The participants of the seminar were high-ranking ASEAN Secretariat officials, including ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General S. Pushpanathan, as well as senior officials from a number of ASEAN member states (a.o. Vietnam, Lao PDR, Thailand, Myanmar, Philippines).

Among the guest lecturers were Wolfgang Schmitt (Managing Director of GTZ), Dr. Heherson T. Alvarez (Presidential Advisor on Global Warming & Climate Change of the President of the Philippines), Stavros Yiannouka (Vice-Dean and Director External Affairs of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore), and experts from the OECD, Climate Focus, the FAO and from the ASEAN region.
