Claudia Kemfert to receive two prestigious awards

Hertie School Professor of Energy Economics and Sustainability awarded German Solar Award 2016 and Adam Smith Prize.

Claudia Kemfert, Hertie School Professor of Energy Economics and Sustainability, has been recognized within her field of energy economics as the recipient of two prestigious awards: the German Solar Award 2016 and the Adam Smith Prize. The 2016 German Solar Award is a special award for Kemfert’s personal commitment to sustainability. Kemfert will also receive the Adam Smith Prize for market-based environmental policy for her dedication to policies including ecological tax reform, CO 2 pricing, and effective trading systems.

Kemfert has been a professor at the Hertie School since 2009. She serves as the head of the Energy, Transportation, and Environment department at the German Institute of Economic Research (DIW Berlin). More information about Kemfert’s Curriculum Vitae and research can be found here.
