Hertie School joins Diversity Charter

German initiative promotes diversity in companies and institutions.

The Hertie School has signed the Diversity Charter (Charta der Vielfalt e. V.), a corporate initiative supported by the German government, to promote diversity in companies and institutions.

On 3 September, Hertie School President Henrik Enderlein signed the Charter. “We want to make the Hertie School an even more diverse and inclusive place,” he told incoming students at the 2019 Opening of the Academic Year on the same day.  “Our aim is to create a sense of opportunity and belonging for all of you.”

The Diversity Charter has over 3,000 signatories. It was founded in 2006 as an initiative of four German companies and it became a non-profit association in 2010. The Charta der Vielfalt e. V. is supported by the Commissioner for the Federal Government for Migration, Refugees and Integration and began operating in 2011 under the aegis of Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Its chairperson, Ana-Cristina Grohnert, will be this year’s speaker at the Executive MPA graduation on 6 September. Previously, she served as Labor Relations Director and Member of the Board of Management for Human Resources at Allianz Deutschland AG and member of the Board of Management of Allianz Versicherungs- und Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG.
