Hertie School recognised for innovative academic fundraising success

Hertie School Director of Development Sascha Stolzenburg accepted the honour on behalf of the Hertie School.

Recognition given by the German University Association at a ceremony on 3 April in Berlin.

The Hertie School was recognised by the German University Association (Deutscher Hochschulverband) for its successful fundraising efforts. These efforts include innovative campaigns to secure endowed professorships, whose research and teaching tackle timely societal challenges. Recent examples are a professorship for public administration and management, endowed by PD – Berater der öffentlichen Hand GmbH (Partnerschaft Deutschland), and a Professor of International and Cyber Security, funded by NXP Semiconductors, who will join the Hertie School’s Centre for International Security Policy, directed by Wolfgang Ischinger.

The honour was presented by the German University Association to the Hertie School on 3 April during a fundraising symposium in Berlin, which included the awarding of the German University Fundraising Prize to the University of Hildesheim. The University of Kaiserslautern was also recognised, along with the Hertie School, for its efforts.

Hertie School Director of Development Sascha Stolzenburg accepted the honour on behalf of the Hertie School: “Fundraising is a leadership, as well as team effort,” says Stolzenburg. “President Helmut K. Anheier has been the driving force behind our team, ensuring that professors are fully involved and that everyone is behind our campaigns.”
