Helmut Anheier asks in the Süddeutsche Zeitung: Are growth, globalisation and liberal democracy compatible?

The future of liberal democracy depends on bolstering ties between social and economic policy, he says. 

In an article for the Süddeutsche Zeitung on 7 September, Hertie School Professor of Sociology and past President Helmut Anheier says that a greater focus on integrating growth and social policy would bolster the global economic system. He bases his arguments on research covering 25 years and 34 OECD countries, conducted together with researcher Alexandru Filip.

"We need to reconnect economic and social policy. The future of liberal democracy may well depend on our willingness and success in this area," he writes.
