The Hertie School and the Paris-based Institute Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute have founded the “Jacques Delors Institute – Berlin“.

Berlin, 17 January 2014 – The Hertie School and the Paris-based Institute Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute have founded the “Jacques Delors Institute – Berlin“. António Vitorino, President of Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute, and Director Yves Bertoncini as well as Hertie School Dean Helmut Anheier and Managing Director Anna Herken signed the founding agreement on January 15.

Henrik Enderlein, Professor of Political Economy at the Hertie School was appointed Director of the think tank on European policy which will be located at Pariser Platz 6 in Berlin (Allianz Stiftungsforum).

The Berlin Institute traces back to an initiative by its namesake, the former President of the European Commission and the late Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, former President of Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute.

By contributing to the public debate on EU policy with studies, analyses, and expert opinions the institute aims at promoting European issues on the political agenda. The institute’s opening ceremony will take place in spring 2014.
By establishing this institute in Berlin, Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute and the Hertie School accommodate the fact that European capitals, apart from Brussels, are corridors of power in European policy making. During the initial phase, the Jacques Delors Institute – Berlin is going to focus especially on the European Parliament elections in May as well as the European policy of the newly elected German government.
