Jennifer Beckermann joins the Hertie School as Director of Communications

MPP graduate will lead communications strategy in period of growth.

Berlin, 20 May 2020 – Jennifer Beckermann has joined the Hertie School as Director of Communications today. The German-Canadian earned her Master of Public Policy (MPP) from the Hertie School in 2009, and comes to Berlin after serving as Director of the Executive Office at the High Commission of Canada in the United Kingdom.

“We are thrilled that Jennifer has joined us,” said Hertie School President Henrik Enderlein. “As an MPP alum, she is already an active member of the school’s community, understands our programmes, and will be an energetic voice in promoting our strategy as we continue to expand in the coming years.”

Beckermann will be responsible for the Hertie School’s overall communications strategy, including public relations, events, media relations, research communication and digital engagement.

“My time at Hertie - and in Berlin - had a lasting impact,” Beckermann said. “I am excited to return to the Hertie School at such a dynamic time, and am looking forward to sharing the stories of our students, faculty, alumni and our ever-growing community.”

Beckermann’s previous work experience includes posts in Canada at the Brookfield Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, TELUS Communications, the Government of Ontario and the Centre for International Governance Innovation.
