Michaela Kreyenfeld selected to join prestigious German sciences academy BBAW

Professor of Sociology also elected to 2019 board of the German Demography Society.

Hertie School Professor of Sociology Michaela Kreyenfeld has been selected as a member of the prestigious BBAW Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften).

The academic society for the natural sciences and humanities, with around 180 regular members, announced at its board meeting on 24 May that it had selected 6 people for membership in 2019.

The BBAW was formed in 1992 from several academies dating back 300 years, beginning with the Prussian Academy of Sciences. It claims 78 Nobel Prize winners among its historic ranks. The society carries out multiple research projects in a wide variety of academic and interdisciplinary areas.

Kreyenfeld was also elected to the 2019 board of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Demographie (DGD), the German demography society at its board meeting this spring.
