Hertie School calls for two additional professorships.

Berlin, 8 March 2018 – The Hertie School in Berlin will hire a Professor of Public Administration and Management. This research and teaching role will focus specifically on administrative modernisation and digitisation. The professorship is made possible by PD – Berater der öffentlichen Hand GmbH (Partnerschaft Deutschland). The consulting company supports public organisations in navigating large-scale changes. “The Hertie School has an excellent reputation for practice-oriented research on governance-modernisation issues. For us, as consultants to the public sector, it is clear that this research should be supported by a professorship,” says PD Managing Director Stéphane Beemelmans.

Additionally, the Hertie School is seeking to hire a Professor of Data Science and Public Policy who will also serve as director of the Hertie School’s new Data Lab for data-centred social science research. Another announced professorship is the Professor of Public Management and Leadership. Research and teaching in this position will centre around management and leadership within public and civil society organisations.

“The demand for research and academic education is growing in parallel to the emerging demands placed on public policies and administrations. The need to find common answers to global challenges, and the pressure to adapt digitally, are just two concrete examples of these dynamic developments. Against this backdrop, the Hertie School continues to grow thanks to trusted partners such as PD,” says Helmut K. Anheier, President of the Hertie School.
