Beverly Crawford is a Fellow at the Hertie School of Governance. She is Professor Emerita of Political Science and Political Economy of the University of California, Berkeley and the former Director of its Center for German and European Studies. She teaches courses on theories of international political economy, American foreign policy, international law, global conflict and crises. She has written policy papers, articles, and a co-edited book on the causes of cultural conflict and written extensively on German foreign policy, including the book, Power and German Foreign Policy: Embedded Hegemony in Europe. She received fellowships in 2015 and 2016 from the Turkish National Science Foundation and the European Commission to study the demographics of the refugee crisis in Turkey and Europe.
