Maurice P. Schumann is a PhD researcher affiliated with the Centre for International Security. His research interests include the intersection of communication technology and state repression, as well as political violence in civil wars. In his dissertation project, he examines internet legislation and digital rights restrictions in authoritarian regimes. Previously, Maurice worked as a consultant at the United Nations and as a research assistant on several different research projects. He holds a Master of Social Science in Peace and Conflict Studies from Uppsala University and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz.
