Martijn van der Steen is Professor of Strategy and Foresight at the Department of Public Administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) in The Netherlands. He is also Associate Dean of the Netherlands School for Public Administration (NSOB) in The Hague, and director of NSOB’s think tank. He is also Extraordinary Professor at the School for Public Leadership (SPL) at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Van der Steen holds a Master in Public Administration and in History. He obtained his PhD at Tilburg University, on a dissertation about the politics of policy for long-term problems. His research interests include network management, public sector strategy and the use of forecasting and scenarios in policymaking. He teaches in executive education programmes on the topics of strategy, networks and complexity.
