The Hertie School welcomes researchers from other universities for visiting stays of individual length and format. We are looking for tenure or tenure-track faculty with their own funding who can contribute to the Hertie School community. Possibilities include:
- work on research topics close to other researchers at the School, such as faculty, post docs, and PhDs;
- participation in one or more speaker series;
- service as a speaker in public event(s) or in a specific class session;
- engagement in other forms with our broader community, which includes the Berlin policy community.
If there is common interest, teaching in the School’s Master’s programmes or Executive Education may be possible and would receive some remuneration (though any applicant should be able to fund fully their stay without teaching).
Visiting faculty will be offered access to the School’s infrastructure and will join the community. A member of the faculty will act as the point of contact for this academic exchange.
The Hertie School offers scholars from other institutions the possibility to conduct research and to collaborate with Hertie School faculty members in form of a research stay of 3 to 12 months. Interested scholars are asked to send their applications including CV, specific dates of stay, faculty and/or Centres with whom the visitor would expect to work, and plans for research (and teaching) to the Dean of Research and Faculty, Mark Hallerberg, at researchandfaculty[at]hertie-school[dot]org. More information is available at: About our research. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
Faculty members of the Hertie School can host researchers they collaborate with for visiting stays of up to three months throughout the year. This is arranged on an individual basis between an individual Hertie School faculty member as host and the guest researcher. A prospective visitor for a short period should approach a faculty member directly.
The Hertie School’s Centres of Competence host their own visiting scholars programmes with individual deadlines and requirements:
- Centre for Fundamental Rights: Visiting Fellowship
- Centre for International Security: International Security Fellowships
- Centre for Sustainability: Jobs and opportunities
- Jacques Delors Centre: Visiting the Centre
- Centre for Digital Governance: Visiting Scholars
- Data Science Lab: no official programme, though exceptions are possible Data Science Lab.
