"How do we break down a problem and go to its root cause? How can we make effective decisions?"
These are just two of the questions Moiz Shaikh delved into during his Executive MPA. In this interview, he explains how the course helped him create an open-source case management software that aids organisations in improving the implementation of their social programme. "What I learned at Hertie was how to really connect the dots," says alumnus Moiz Shaikh.
Moiz is co-founder and head of partnership at Aam Digital. He graduated from our Executive Master of Public Administration (Executive MPA) in 2020. During his time at the Hertie School, Moiz specialised in "Leading innovation and managing change", one of the three concentrations Executive MPA students can choose from. On this track, students focus on managing and leading people, as well as managing change to foster innovation. During the summer, he worked as a Summer Associate with PUBLIC, an organisation focused on transforming public services with new technologies.
About the Executive MPA
Hertie School's Executive MPA is designed to equip students with the skills to tackle complex policy challenges and become a leader in their field. It is a highly flexible programme that accommodates busy schedules with part-time (2 years, extendable to 3-4 years) or full-time (1 year) options.
The programme offers tools that are relevant across sectors. With concentrations in "Leading innovation and managing change", "Digitalisation and big data", and "Global governance challenges", it offers a wide range of options to suit different career goals. Participants also receive skills training for personal and professional development on topics such as negotiation techniques, data science, scenario-building and political communication. Workshops give behind-the-scenes insights into policymaking in key European hubs.
