This course provides students with a comprehensive and practical foundation in building and scaling SaaS ventures specifically focused on public impact sectors, including public administration, defense, and health. Covering the full lifecycle of a SaaS startup, the course includes essential topics such as product-market fit, business models, fundraising and go-to-market approaches tailored for public sector clients. Students will focus on develop skills and knowledge in regulatory compliance, data security, and procurement, addressing the unique requirements of public sector customers. Emphasis is also placed on understanding market dynamics and performing competitor analysis to effectively position a software-as-a-service product. Throughout the course, students will work continuously on drafting and bringing to life their own SaaS venture. They will do so in practical assignments, including drafting a market analysis, designing a product and pricing model, and creating a written business plan aligned with a pitch deck. The program culminates in a final pitching session, where students present their venture to a panel of real life venture capital managers. By the end, students will gain the knowledge and hands-on experience to create, position, distribute and finance a SaaS product as a private company significantly leveling up public administration, defense or health.
