Influencing Brussels: Making EU Climate Policies

This Project Course looks at how the European Union (EU) and its member states are working to implement the transition to a green economy aligned with Europe's international commitments on climate change. The course should interest students who want to work in the field of climate change policies in any country in the world, or who want to build an EU career in Brussels. Students will learn about how the EU functions, and about how different member states and different lobbying and civil society groups can influence European priorities and decisions. Students will also learn about the practical realities of climate policymaking, its challenges, and its opportunities. The course includes a real-time case study of a policy process ongoing in the EU during the Spring Semester of 2025.
