Introduction to data science

This course will introduce you to the modern data science workflow. In recent years, data analysis skills have become essential for those pursuing careers in policy advocacy and evaluation, business consulting and management, or academic research in the fields of education, health, medicine and social science. This course provides students with advanced data science skills using the versatile R programming language and a host of other tools. We will cover topics such as version control (Git) and project management; data acquisition, manipulation, storage and visualisation; efficient programming; and advanced workflow issues, including tools for big data analysis, how to speed things up, debugging and automation. The course is intended for students with some experience in working with R.

This course is for 1st year MDS students only.
