These days leaders are increasingly challenged to provide not just a value proposition in financial-economic terms. It is also about an extended idea of value creation. This holds true both for the public and private sector.
In this course, the notion of public value is used to analyze, understand and manage performance in its broadest sense. It is about a public value proposition.
The course will enable students to understand public value from a philosophical, sociological as well as psychological perspective. It is demonstrated how public value leadership applies to different functions, such as strategy, entrepreneurship, marketing, HR and change management. Use cases include governmental bodies, NGOs and business organizations.
A key learning objective is to understand the Public Value Scorecard as an instrument to systematically manage public value.
Public value starts within the individual. Next to managerial and interdisciplinary viewpoints, students will be exposed to their individual drive for purpose and meaning in the workplace. They will be provided with a self-assessment of their individual competencies and public value awareness.
