The course focuses on health and wellbeing as a challenge for public policy. The focus is on the interrelation between political traditions of different countries and their health policies and governance. Students will be introduced to the theory and methodology of identifying different traditions and types of welfare states worldwide and the corresponding health care systems. A special focus will be placed on the links between welfare state characteristics, the structure of health care systems, and health policy intervention strategies.
