Alex Starry specialised in monitoring, evaluation and learning during her studies at the Hertie School. Prior to joining the Hertie School, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Public Financial Management at the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University and spent a semester on the hill in Washington DC interning for Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois. Her professional experience consists of spending two years working for the Peace Corps as a Youth Health Advisor with the main mission of combating HIV among youth in Lesotho. Furthermore, she worked as a graduate student assistant at a local Berlin NGO, streetfootballworld, improving and implementing monitoring and evaluation tools to measure the impact and strength of the 135-member network. She wishes to continue pursuing a professional career in monitoring and evaluation of health programmes.
