Laura Gerards Iglesias specialised in feminist foreign policy and peace processes during her studies at the Hertie School and the Graduate Institute Geneva. Prior to joining the Hertie School, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in European Studies at Maastricht University and spent a semester abroad at Sciences Po Paris. During her Professional Year, Laura co-founded the start-up CompassTeams to develop a digital tool for strengthening empathy in teams. In parallel, she built up a female peer-coaching network. She professionalised her knowledge in politics during internships at the German Embassy in London and the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. Laura will lead her own project on the role of women in peace processes during a one-year scholarship (the Mercator Fellowship on International Affairs) in 2020/21.
