Rachel Gutierrez obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles, with minors in international relations and art, during which she became interested in international development. After a year as a Public Health Programme Developer with Global Brigades Ghana, Rachel was an Improvement Associate on the USAID Applying Science to Strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST) Project for five years. In this project she managed a portfolio where she directly supported global learning in the field of quality improvement, health systems strengthening and good governance for quality health care in twelve countries. In order to build on her six years of practical experience, Rachel focused her studies on health governance, public service delivery and public management while at the Hertie School.
