Leon Surmann specialised in finance and trade, as well as Chinese policy during his studies at the Hertie School, which included a semester abroad at Fudan University in Shanghai, China. Prior to joining the Hertie School, he completed a dual degree with a Bachelor of Science in General Management at the EBS Universität in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany, and a Bachelor of Business Administration at IÉSEG School of Management in Lille, France. Most recently, he assisted the German Bundeswehr Cyber Innovation Hub, an intrapreneurship programme accelerating the innovative power of the German armed forces. Previously, while working for Accenture Strategy, he supported the development of a start-up accelerator programme in a DAX 30 corporation. Furthermore, he worked at Airbus Group and at a start-up funded by Rocket Internet.
