Tobias Bernstein specialised in energy and environmental economics as well as policy and development policy at the Hertie School. Prior to joining the Hertie School, Tobias completed a Master of Arts in International Relations and Linguistics at the University of Aberdeen. He took a year between his first and second year of study to gain professional experience in the energy and environment sectors. This experience included an internship at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, a half-year traineeship in the energy and environment section of the Royal Danish Embassy in Berlin and a further half-year internship at the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP) – an intergovernmental forum for emissions trading. In the second year of his studies, Tobias rejoined ICAP as a project assistant.
