Willy Winkler focused on climate and energy policy during his studies at the Hertie School. He conducted a research project which investigated pathways for a just transition out of coal in Lusatia. This earned him and his teammates the Sustainable Development Goals Professional Certificate issued by the Global Public Policy Network. Furthermore, Willy was a Co-Chair of the European Public Policy Conference 2019 which took place in Madrid. Prior to joining the Hertie School, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Politics at the University of Applied Sciences Europe in Berlin. In between degrees Willy was a media consultant to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) with a special focus on the German G20 presidency. Prior to this, Willy worked as a journalist for Die Welt and N24.
