Xiaoyan Hu specialised in European political economy, competition policy and digitalisation during her studies at the Hertie School. Prior to her dual degree with Sciences Po Paris, she completed a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Social Sciences within the context of Asia Studies, also at Sciences Po Paris, and spent an exchange year at MGIMO University. Her professional experience includes a number of summer internships in Chinese media companies such as Caixin and Phoenix TV as well as completing a year working at strategic communication consultancy Hering Schuppener Consulting and the in-house European Union policy advisory department at Royal Philips in Brussels, where she focused mainly on digitalisation and healthcare. Combining her interest in competition law and industrial policy, she deepened her knowledge in a number of related areas at the Hertie School.
