What is it?
The Hertie School offers a full scholarship for the MPP, MIA and MDS programmes in cooperation with the Kinnings Academy by the Kinnings Foundation.
The Kinnings Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation with the regional focus on Eastern Germany that invests in promising social impact leaders dedicated to advancing opportunities for children and youth.
The selected applicant will be offered a full scholarship for a master’s programme at the Hertie School and the participation on the Kinnings Academy, a one-year leadership programme for promising social impact leaders.
Who is it for?
Applicants who completed their high school degree (Abitur) in Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, or Thuringia. Candidates should be actively engaged in any sector, whether in education, entrepreneurship, politics and administration, civil society, or other areas, with a focus on advancing opportunities for young people in the region.

Apply to the Hertie School
Submit your application for one of the Hertie School master’s programmes by 1 May. We recommend applying as early as possible. After receiving an admission offer, you will be invited to access the Funding Application and will have two weeks to apply for scholarships. -

Once you have received your admission offer from Hertie, write a brief essay describing an initiative you have undertaken to contribute to the common good in Eastern Germany. How does this reflect your curiosity, passion, collaboration, and optimism? Also, explain how this scholarship will help you amplify your impact in the region. Important: You will not be considered for the scholarship if you do not complete and submit the funding application by the deadline. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Kinnings Academy.
