Eastern Germany Leadership Scholarship

Are you passionate about making a difference in Eastern Germany? This scholarship, offered in partnership with the Kinnings Academy, supports students committed to creating positive change. It’s for those who believe in collaboration, tackle challenges with determination, and strive to build a stronger future for Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia.

• Available for the Master of Public Policy, Master of International Affairs and Master of Data Science for Public Policy
• One scholarship worth 38,500 euros of tuition fees at the Hertie School
• One scholarship worth 10,000 euros of fees of the Kinnings Academy programme
• Open to applicants who have completed their high school degree in Eastern Germany. Candidates should be socially engaged in Eastern Germany in any sector.

The Hertie School offers a full scholarship for the MPP, MIA and MDS programmes in cooperation with the Kinnings Academy by the Kinnings Foundation.

The Kinnings Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation with the regional focus on Eastern Germany that invests in promising social impact leaders dedicated to advancing opportunities for children and youth.

The selected applicant will be offered a full scholarship for a master’s programme at the Hertie School and the participation on the Kinnings Academy, a one-year leadership programme for promising social impact leaders.

Applicants who completed their high school degree (Abitur) in Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, or Thuringia. Candidates should be actively engaged in any sector, whether in education, entrepreneurship, politics and administration, civil society, or other areas, with a focus on advancing opportunities for young people in the region.

• Apply to the Hertie School
  Submit your application for one of the Hertie School master’s programmes by 1 May. We recommend applying as early as possible. After receiving an admission offer, you will be invited to access the Funding Application and will have two weeks to apply for scholarships.

• Submit Your Scholarship Application
  Once you have received your admission offer from Hertie, write a brief essay describing an initiative you have undertaken to contribute to the common good in Eastern Germany. How does this reflect your curiosity, passion, collaboration, and optimism? Also, explain how this scholarship will help you amplify your impact in the region.   Complete your application to the Kinnings Academy Leadership Programme within their deadlines at www.kinnings-academy.org

Important: You will not be considered for the scholarship if you do not complete and submit the funding application by the deadline. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Kinnings Academy.
