Partial scholarships at the Hertie School
Partial scholarships refer to reductions to the tuition fees of the master programme.
Applicants of all nationalities may apply for partial funding from the Hertie School, awarded in the form of waivers ranging from 10% to 50% of the tuition fees. If you need financial assistance, we encourage you to apply by the priority deadlines (MPP/MIA/MDS: 1 February, Executive MPA: 1 June). Partial scholarships are also allocated on a rolling basis to candidates who apply up until the final application deadlines (MPP/MIA/MDS: 1 May, Executive MPA: 1 August).
By the numbers
About half of our students receive partial scholarships.
Apply by 1 February and 1 June for priority consideration for partial scholarships.
Waivers can go up to 50% of tuition fees.
How to apply
Create an account in our application portal and select the programme you wish to apply for.
In the online application form, make sure you fill out the Financial Information section: Choose “yes” as the answer to the question “Are you applying for a full or partial scholarship?”
You must fill out the Declaration of Finances. Please indicate the total amount of funds you have secured for your studies at the time you apply. Do not include any funding that you are still in the process of securing or have not certainly secured in your Declaration of Finances. This information will be used to confirm your financial need. No additional documents are required at this stage.
Please note that appropriate proof regarding your financial situation (e.g. personal, employer, and/or spouse’s/parents’ tax report) can be requested in the event you are offered a tuition waiver. If the information provided by the applicant is found to be false or misleading, the tuition waiver will be withdrawn and further legal action may be taken.
You may apply for full and partial scholarships at the same time. Remember that full scholarships often require additional application materials, such as an essay. Find out more about the requirements on each individual scholarship page.
Special partial scholarships
In addition to the general partial scholarships (described above) to which all candidates with financial need may apply, we also offer special partial scholarships targeted towards specific profiles:
Remember, even if these special programmes do not fit your profile, you may still apply for our general partial funding programme if you demonstrate financial need. Make sure to fill out the financial information section in our online application form.
How do we allocate partial scholarships?
Financial aid is allocated based on the need of each individual applicant, regardless of nationality or ethnicity. Applicants are evaluated based on the information they provide in their application under the Financial Information section.
